What is the Little Feminist Book Club?

Little Feminist Book Club 0-2 Years

Diverse stories, just right for your little one’s library

The Little Feminist Book Club is a subscription box designed to help families share high-quality, diverse books with their kids.

In a world where there are more children’s books about animals than people of color and significantly fewer girl protagonists than boys Little Feminist is a breath of fresh air.

A variety of people and perspectives are thoughtfully featured in each book box, including people from different countries and cultures, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, non-traditional families, and more.

Keep reading to learn more about one of my favorite subscription boxes for little ones!

Plus, get a sneak peek inside the baby/toddler (0-2 years) and toddler/preschooler (2-4 years) book club boxes.

Family Is... Board Book from Little Feminist Book Club
Family Is... Board Book from Little Feminist Book Club

1. “We Are Little Feminists: Families” by Archaa Shrivastav (Board Book)

This is the kind of book that babies and toddlers love! Real photos of children and their families offer little ones a peek into the lives of all kinds of people, including LGBTQ+ parents and their loved ones.

The pictures are vivid, featuring a variety of diverse families, and the rhyming lines are fun to read aloud.

You can also find “Families” as a stand-alone book, or as part of Little Feminist’s set of original board books.

2. “May We Have Enough to Share” by Richard Van Camp (Board Book)

This sweet and simple board book about gratitude, from an award-winning Indigenous author, was the perfect pick for November.

“May we have enough to share our homes, our food, our stories, our laughter.” Lines like this make for a lovely, comforting read.

And of course, the pictures — sweet portraits of loving families, photographed by Indigenous women — are a joy too.

As a side note, I was so excited to see that both stories included in this month’s box use photographs of real families. Babies and toddlers love board books with photos, but they can be challenging to find. Overall, a wonderful choice for little ones!

1. “We All Play” by Julie Flett (Picture Book)

I wanted to cry when I opened this book (in a good way!) The illustrations are unbelievably gorgeous, and the writing is perfect for little ones: Simple and fun to read, with plenty of repetition and alliteration to keep children engaged.

I received the November book box, so it was especially great to see an Indigenous perspective highlighted. The inclusion of Cree language throughout the book, including a helpful glossary at the end, was a lovely touch too.

Overall, this book was a beautiful read that I likely wouldn’t have stumbled upon on my own. Exactly what I want from a subscription box.

Is the Little Feminist Book Club worth it?

If you’re looking for an easy way to share more diverse stories with your child, I would definitely recommend the Little Feminist Book Club. Both book boxes I received were lovingly curated, great quality, and so much fun to explore.

Books

The books were original, fun to read, and just right for the recommended age groups.

I especially loved the board books featuring real photos of children and families. (I spend a LOT of time researching books to share here. Let me tell you, high-quality children’s books with real photos are hard to find!)

Activity & discussion cards

I thought the activity ideas and discussion questions were a nice addition. The suggested activities were fun, simple, and paired nicely with each story.

I also liked the variety of discussion prompts. Asking questions like “How do you feel when someone shares with you?” or “Which animal in this book is your favorite?” is an easy way to build language skills and support your child’s social-emotional development.

Value

Both boxes I received included about $18 worth of books (retail price).

In comparison, the most expensive Little Feminist subscription plan costs $22.95/month. That’s a great value for the high-quality, hand-picked books included in each box, plus all the extras.

The annual plan ($18.95/month) is an even better deal.

TLDR?

Overall, the Little Feminist Book Club is a great choice for little ones! You can find the best book subscription box for your baby, toddler, or preschooler here: 0-2 years or 2-4 years.
